Something big happened today! Did you feel it? A major quake. A shift in the rotation of the earth. An atomic bomb. An explosion. A hurricane. A tornado. A Tsunami. Something big happened today. Am I the only one on earth that felt it? How could it be that I can still hear cars zooming past my street. A dog barking. A child talking with their father?
Your ode to a broken heart reminded me of the words of Jesus when he talks about "the least of these" from Matthew chapter 25. He says in verses 35- 40 : For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? 38 And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? 39 And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’ When we really truly SEE others in need, open our hearts to their plight, take the time to care for them~ we fulfill the words of Christ.
My desire is to live each day in the light of HIS love, not just soaking it in like the sunshine, but sharing His life, grace, love and comfort to those who are hurting. Thanks for sharing and making me think!
In today’s world it seems that most people are only concerned about their lives and have no empathy for others. My definition of Empathy: The ability to understand and share the feelings of another or feel what another Human Begin is experiencing from within the other Beings frame of reference i.e. The capacity to place oneself in another's position…..just think about what a far better world this would be, if everyone had EMPATHY!!!
A poem which works on many levels ... we react to different things in different ways and it's always important to try and see things from someone else's point of view I think ...
